Delete your account
This page belongs to Nutze.app, the rental marketplace operated by Chris Wernsmann, Vennstr. 3, 48619 Heek, Germany — the same provider that publishes the "Nutze" app for Android and iOS.
You can delete your Nutze account yourself at any time, in the app and on the web. You do not need to contact support or file a request. Below are the steps, what happens afterwards, what gets deleted, and what we have to keep.
Step by step: delete your account in the app (Android and iOS)
- Open the Nutze app and sign in to your account.
- Tap Profil in the bottom navigation.
- Tap Konto & Sicherheit (Account & security).
- Scroll to the Konto löschen (Delete account) section and tap Konto löschen.
- Type the word LÖSCHEN into the confirmation field.
- Tap Endgültig löschen (Delete permanently).
- You get a confirmation and are signed out.
Step by step: delete your account on the web
- Sign in at nutze.app.
- Open Profil → Konto & Sicherheit, or go directly to nutze.app/dashboard/profile/account.
- Scroll to the Konto löschen section and click Konto löschen.
- Type the word LÖSCHEN into the confirmation field.
- Click Endgültig löschen. You are signed out afterwards.
If you can no longer sign in
Email us at hello@nutze.app, ideally from the address your account is registered with. We handle erasure requests under Art. 17 GDPR the same way.
What happens after the request: a 30-day window
Deletion runs in two stages.
Immediately, when you request it:
- Your public profile is no longer reachable. Other users can no longer find you through the platform.
- Your listings disappear from search and are no longer publicly reachable at their direct address either.
- You are signed out.
Your access stays open for 30 days — deliberately: the only way to reverse the deletion is while you can still sign in.
- Sign in again within the 30 days and click Löschung abbrechen (Cancel deletion) under Konto & Sicherheit. The banner shown at the top offers the same thing as Konto behalten (Keep account). Either one restores your account fully — your listings become findable again too.
- Simply signing in does not cancel the deletion. Only that button does.
- We send you two emails: a confirmation once you have requested the deletion, and a reminder about a week before the 30 days are up. Both name the date and how to cancel. We send no push notifications about this, and the banner notice still appears only while you are signed in.
After the 30 days your account is automatically and permanently anonymised. Anonymisation runs once a day, so it happens on day 30 or shortly after. From that point recovery is no longer possible.
Which data is deleted
On final deletion the following is removed or irreversibly overwritten:
- Your name — replaced with "Gelöschter Nutzer" (Deleted user).
- Profile picture, phone number, language preference and notification settings.
- Business details: company name, VAT ID, the legal notice and terms you stored including the uploaded documents, business hours and cancellation terms.
- All identifiers of your payment and payout account with our payment provider Stripe that are stored in your Nutze profile.
- Your saved addresses: street, address line 2, label, state and the precise coordinates are removed; postal code and city are overwritten with placeholders.
- Deleted outright: your favourites, your follows, the blocks you set, your push tokens and other notification tokens, and any category suggestions you submitted.
- Your credentials: password and linked Google or Apple sign-in are removed, all active sessions ended, and access permanently disabled.
- Your listings are permanently deactivated. Open wanted ads are closed.
Which data is kept — and for how long
We do not delete your record; we delete the person in it. A rental always has two sides: if we removed you entirely, the other party would lose the evidence of a booking they were part of.
The following records therefore remain — after anonymisation, no longer attributable to an identifiable person:
- Bookings including price, extension and payment details. Retention period: § 147 AO and § 24 Abs. 3 PStTG require us to keep booking and payment documentation for up to 10 years. These records therefore outlive the anonymisation.
- Reviews you wrote or received. They are part of your counterparties' history, whose rating profile would otherwise change retroactively. They appear under "Gelöschter Nutzer"; the review text is erased three years after the end of the year in which it was written (§ 195, § 199 (1) BGB). The star rating itself remains.
- Message histories from shared conversations, including the message text. They evidence the rental arrangements for the other side and appear under "Gelöschter Nutzer". Message text and images are erased three years after the end of the year in which they were written (§ 195, § 199 (1) BGB). You can delete individual messages of your own beforehand at any time (see below).
- Reports and disputes you were involved in, for establishing and defending legal claims (Art. 17(3)(e) GDPR).
- Blocks other users placed against your account. They remain so those people stay protected.
- Your listing data stays reachable as a read-only history entry for people who have a booking, a conversation or a favourite relating to that listing. It is no longer publicly reachable. The listing description is removed three years after your account is deleted; the title and the booking link remain.
- Uploaded image files belonging to retained records — listing photos, chat images, handover and return photos — remain in file storage. The link to your profile is removed.
- Payment and payout data stored at Stripe. Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.) is an independent controller with its own statutory retention obligations. We remove the link to your Nutze account.
When deletion is not yet possible
In three cases we cannot delete your account straight away, because doing so would damage a rental or a proceeding still in progress:
- You are party to a booking that is not yet completed, cancelled or declined.
- A dispute is open on one of your bookings.
- Your Stripe account holds a balance that has not been paid out.
If one of these cannot currently be checked, we decline as a precaution rather than perform a deletion that would damage a live rental. The app always tells you what is outstanding. Once it is resolved you can request deletion again. Your right to erasure under Art. 17 GDPR is unaffected — contact hello@nutze.app in such cases.
Deleting individual data without deleting your account
You do not have to give up your account to get rid of data. Sign in — in the app or at nutze.app — and do the following:
Delete a chat message. Open Nachrichten (Messages) → the conversation. Long-press the message (on the web: hover, then the ⋯ menu) and choose Löschen (Delete). The message text and any attached image are removed from the history, for both sides.
Remove a photo from a listing. Open Profil → Meine Inserate (My listings) → the listing → Bearbeiten (Edit). Tap the photo and choose Entfernen (Remove). The image file is deleted from our storage.
Delete or pause a listing. Profil → Meine Inserate → the listing → Bearbeiten → Inserat löschen at the bottom. To merely hide it, use the Aktiv toggle instead.
Close a wanted ad. Profil → Meine Gesuche (My wanted ads) → the ad → Gesuch beenden (Close).
Delete a saved address. Profil → Adressen → the address → Löschen. Addresses belonging to a live booking can be removed once it completes.
Remove your phone number. Profil → Persönliche Daten → clear the Telefonnummer field → Speichern.
Remove favourites, follows, blocks and reactions. Through the same control you used to set them: the heart on a listing, Folgen/Entfolgen on a profile, Blockierung aufheben under Profil → Blockierte Nutzer, and tapping a chat reaction again.
Withdraw consent to AI features. Profil → Konto & Sicherheit → KI-Funktionen. No further content is transmitted to the AI service afterwards; suggestions already generated are not deleted by this.
Requesting deletion of other data
Anything you cannot delete yourself, we delete on request. Email us at hello@nutze.app — ideally from the address your account is registered with — naming the data concerned. This covers access, rectification and erasure under Art. 15 to 17 GDPR. We respond within the statutory one-month deadline.
Even for a partial deletion, the records listed above are retained: booking and payment documentation under § 147 AO and § 24 Abs. 3 PStTG for up to 10 years, review text and message histories for three years as evidence for your counterparties, and reports and disputes under Art. 17(3)(e) GDPR. See Which data is kept.
