Payments on Nutze

• The Process: You request your dates in the app and clarify the details in the chat. You pay the rental price directly to the owner at the handover, usually in cash.
• Never in Advance: Only pay once the item is in front of you and you have checked it. Don't send any money beforehand, not even a down payment or a reservation fee.
• The Protocol: In the digital handover protocol, the owner confirms that they have received the money. This makes it clear to both sides that payment has been made.

Important Note: The money goes directly from you to the owner, not through Nutze. That is why we cannot recover or refund a payment. Settle any questions about payment in the chat beforehand.

How does the security deposit work?

If the owner requires a security deposit, you'll see it in the listing. You hand it to the owner in cash at the handover and get it back at the return if everything is in order. You confirm in the app that you've received your deposit back.

Are there any fees on Nutze?

No. Searching, listing, chatting and renting are free. You only pay the rent and, if required, a deposit — both directly to the owner.

What happens in case of a cancellation?

Since no money flows through Nutze, the booking is simply canceled in the app. No costs apply.

What happens if I am late returning the item?

Nutze calculates prices based on a fair 24-hour cycle. Your timer starts the exact minute you both sign off on the digital handover protocol. After the agreed end of the rental you have a 60-minute grace period. If you return the item later than that, the owner can request a fair late fee via the system: the hourly rate (daily price ÷ 24) for every hour or part of an hour. If the item was delivered, the owner collects it from you themselves, so no late fee applies.
